Sneaky bloody supermarkets

Perhaps I really am too cynical but during my supermarket visit I noticed the recent trend of cutting the tops off pineapples.

Now maybe there is a reasonable explanation, like it reduces transport costs, but I can’t help but think that it stops people from planting the tops and growing their own.  It’s effectively a sterile pineapple.  Pineapples are the easiest thing to grow.  You simply cut the top off and stick it in the ground and in a little while you have more pineapple.

Here is one I planted in my garden.

I’ll let you know when I have pineapples.
